HELP WANTED

The Borough of Port Carbon, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Borough Treasurer.

Position Overview:
The Borough Treasurer is responsible for the financial management of the Borough, including the receipt and disbursement of funds, payroll processing, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly and annual financial reports, reconciling accounts, and assisting in budget preparation. The Treasurer works closely with Borough Council and other officials to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and auditing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all Borough financial accounts and ledgers
  • Process accounts payable, receivable, and payroll
  • Prepare and distribute employee paychecks and reports
  • Ensure timely submission of payroll taxes and required filings
  • Prepare monthly treasurer’s reports for Borough Council
  • Reconcile bank statements and track expenditures
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and audits
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all financial matters

Qualifications:

  • Experience in municipal finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or payroll preferred
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks or similar accounting and payroll software
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Must be bondable

Hours & Compensation:
Part-time position; hours flexible. Salary is negotiable and commensurate with experience.
